Haringey Circle Weekly Update: New Activities and Events!

Dear Members,

Please scroll down again for this week’s programme, as varied as ever, to suit all tastes we hope! There are some free theatre tickets on offer, and Batik making, a new activity you might want to try.

Looking ahead beyond this week, there is our popular Day Disco, on 24th July, and a repeat of the wonderful Olympic Park tour led by member Jaki – and line dancing classes are back again.

So, take your pick and please don’t forget to sign up to the activities you choose, so that we know how many people to expect. This allows us to appropriately manage numbers. It really makes difficulties for us if you do not – or if you sign up, and don’t attend!

A Small Favour That Could Make a Big Difference:

We’re asking all members to help support our organisation NOW by submitting a nomination in the Movement for Good Awards. It only takes a minute to complete, but every nomination helps strengthen our chances of receiving funding that would support our activities and services for the community. We’re aiming for 75 nominations before Sunday 5th July, so if you’re able to help, wed be very grateful.

Nominate us here:

Drama Sessions Continuing:

With a few sessions still to go, returning members continue to build a shared performance project together. Guided by experienced facilitator Steve Medlin, the sessions draw inspiration from local stories and encourage creativity, connection, and self-expression.

Unfortunately, these sessions have reached capacity, so are not currently open to new attendees, but we look forward to continue hearing the stories and performances of returning members! We hope however to begin a new series in the autumn.

Cinema Club: The Invite

The Invite (2026) is a comedy-drama with a great cast – Seth Rogen, Olivia Wilde, Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton. It follows a frustrated, unhappy married couple who host a disastrous dinner party for their free-spirited neighbours. As the night progresses secrets unravel and the evening turns completely upside down! Register below to watch for a discounted price of £4.00.

Batik

Join us for our first of 4 Batik session with Cassandra! The word Batik originates from the Javanese word “tik” which mean to dot. An ancient practice of printing fabric with dyes and a wax resist, stemming from Indonesia, across South East Asia, from which she draws inspiration from. We will create some easy simple designs, following a series of processes to produce some fabric art works to take home. All materials are provided. No experience is necessary, venue accessible.

Olympic Park Tour with Jaki, a Circle member!

For those who missed it in April, we are repeating our member led walking tour of the Olympic Park, built between March 2008 and March 2011 in the Lea valley, Stratford, for the 2012 Olympic Games. Its architecture remains an important legacy of that event, yet few of us have never visited this huge site on our doorstep. Join us as Jaki, who served as a volunteer during the Games takes us on a stroll through the park.

We will meet at the Tottenham Hale station at 11.00 for travel to Stratford, walk from there station then make our way into the park. It is a vibrant, sustainable mixed-use destination with sports and arts venues and is bigger than Hyde Park!

Another one coming, Summer Daytime Disco!

Our Daytime Disco returns for a third time on Friday 24th July 2026 at Gina’s! Following the success of our previous discos, we’re hoping to make this our biggest and best yet, bringing together members old and new for an afternoon of music, dancing, laughter and great company. Whether you’ve joined us before or are thinking of coming along for the first time, this is a fantastic opportunity to meet fellow members, make new connections and enjoy a fun, welcoming atmosphere. A donation of £7 is requested to help cover some of the event costs (full details will be provided upon registration). We look forward to seeing the dance floor full and welcoming as many members as possible, and hopefully some new ones(!) for another unforgettable afternoon. For the next steps, register your interest today and we’ll be in touch with more details very soon.
