Haringey Circle Weekly Update: New Activities & Events!

Dear Members,

We hope you are all keeping well in this very hot weather!

Here are next week’s activities for the cooler (!) week ahead, for you to choose from. As ever, there’s a mix of walks, creative sessions, social gatherings, cultural outings and opportunities to try something new. We’re also looking forward to welcoming members to a number of returning favourites this week, including Tanya’s Alexander Technique sessions, Drama with Collage Arts, and our Dining Circle at OITA, alongside a variety of other events and activities.

We’re particularly pleased to highlight the lottery funded Exercise for Seniors sessions run by the West Haringey Seniors Exercise Group. See below.

A reminder once again – don’t forget, you must sign up to the activities you want to attend, so that we know how many people are expected, and can manage numbers

A Small Favour That Could Make a Big Difference: We’re asking all members to help support our organisation by submitting a nomination in the Movement for Good Awards. It only takes a minute to complete, but every nomination helps strengthen our chances of receiving funding that would support our activities and services for the community. We’re aiming for 75 nominations before Sunday 5th July, so if you’re able to help, we’d be very grateful. Nominate us here: https://movementforgood.com/draws/special/community#nominateACharity

Sunday Nature & Wellness: Parkland Walk

We warmly invite you to join us for our next walk in the beautiful surroundings of Finsbury Park and the Parkland Walk. After recent attempts were affected by the high temperatures, we’re hoping conditions will be kinder this time so we can finally enjoy this much-anticipated outing together.

There will be both a shorter and a longer walking option, making it easy to choose a pace that suits you. With plenty of shade along the route and everyone coming together at the end, it’s a great opportunity to enjoy some fresh air, gentle exercise, and good company. We look forward to welcoming both new and returning members for another friendly Sunday walk.

Returning: Alexander Technique with Tanya!

This is the last of Tanya’s very popular Alexander Technique class for a few weeks, offering a last chance for anyone who missed this before,  and is now curious to try. The Alexander Technique Alexander Technique is a gentle, practical approach that uses a series of guided exercises and awareness practices to support improved posture, reduce muscular tension, and encourage more ease and efficiency in everyday movement.

This time we are in a lovely new venue: Wolves Lane Centre, Wolves Lane, London N22 5JD, (W4 stops outside). Please note that, there is a suggested contribution of £5 per session, payable directly to Tanya. We look forward to welcoming members wanting to learn how to use this fascinating method.

No previous drama experience is needed, and there is no pressure to perform in front of an audience, just an opportunity to enjoy the process, explore your creativity, and take part at your own pace.

We would like to highlight the following new regular activity by The West Haringey Seniors Exercise Group:

Exercise for Seniors offers friendly, inclusive exercise sessions designed to help older people stay active, improve strength, balance and mobility, and boost overall wellbeing. Classes are led by Jeff Hurrell, a specialist in later-life fitness, who adapts exercises to suit different abilities, ensuring everyone can take part at their own pace.

As well as the physical benefits, the group provides a valuable social opportunity, with many participants staying on afterwards for a cup of tea and a chat. The group has been supporting local older people since 2010 and has recently received funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, helping to keep sessions affordable and accessible for the community.
