We hope you’re keeping cool and enjoying the summer but keep on reading as we have another busy couple of weeks ahead, with plenty of opportunities to get together. From walks and coffee mornings to theatre and, of course, our Summer Daytime Disco. Unfortunately, this week’s Film Club screening has had to be cancelled, but when the next screening becomes available, we will let Film Club members know. If you’d like to join the Film Club and receive these updates, just let us know.
You may also have received a separate email inviting you to complete our Member Consultation. PLEASE NOTE: if you’ve already filled it in, thank you and please ignore the reminder. If not, we’d really encourage you to take a few minutes to take part. This is an important consultation about the future of Haringey Circle and we want every member to have the opportunity to share their views and help shape what comes next.

Sunday Nature & Wellness: Walthamstow Wetlands
This Sunday, we’ll be returning to Walthamstow Wetlands for one of our regular group walks. While the forecast is set to be very warm, we’re looking forward to another enjoyable morning exploring this beautiful green space together.
Please take a moment to consider whether you’re comfortable walking in the expected heat, and assess your own capacity before attending. If you’re concerned that the conditions may be too much for you, we encourage you to sit this one out and join us on a future walk instead.
For those who are joining us, the walk will go ahead as planned and as usual, so please remember to bring plenty of water, wear sun protection such as a hat and sunscreen, and dress appropriately for the weather. We look forward to seeing everyone who is able to make it for another great walk together!
Bounds Green drop-in!
Looking to escape the heat and enjoy some good company? Join us at our friendly Coffee Morning Drop-In at the Oliver Tambo Café in Bounds Green. Pop in for a chat, a cuppa, and the chance to catch up with familiar faces or meet someone new, everyone is welcome!
Batik
Join us for our first of 4 Batik session with Cassandra! The word Batik originates from the Javanese word “tik” which mean to dot. An ancient practice of printing fabric with dyes and a wax resist, stemming from Indonesia, across South East Asia, from which she draws inspiration from. We will create some easy simple designs, following a series of processes to produce some fabric art works to take home. All materials are provided. No experience is necessary, venue accessible.
Drama Sessions Continuing:
With a few sessions still to go this month, members have continued to build a shared performance project together. Guided by experienced facilitator Steve Medlin, the sessions have drawn inspiration from personal experience stories while encouraging creativity, connection, and self-expression. Over the past few weeks members have had a masterclass in how to effectively tell our stories.
Although closed to new members, with these sessions coming to an end, the members will perform their stories to other members on Tues 21st. We hope to launch a new series in the autumn, so watch this space, but we are welcoming all members to come hear some of the wonderful, and often moving, stories we have crafted in recent weeks. Please come and be our audience – and maybe think about joining future classes themselves? See you there!
LegalAliens Theatre presents: Ali in Wonder(ENG)Land
We still have a limited number of free tickets available for this powerful production at Jacksons Lane Theatre, and we highly recommend coming along. The venue is Jacksons Lane Theatre, 269 Archway Road, N6 5AA. Opposite Highgate Tube; buses 43, 134 and 234 stop outside and the venue is fully accessible.
Created by local LegalAliens Theatre and inspired by the real lived experiences of refugees and migrants, this thought-provoking performance explores the contrast between expectation and reality with imagination, warmth, and insight. Olympic Park Tour with Jaki, a Circle member!
For those who missed it in April, we are repeating our member led walking tour of the Olympic Park, built between March 2008 and March 2011 in the Lea valley, Stratford, for the 2012 Olympic Games. Its architecture remains an important legacy of that event, yet few of us have never visited this huge site on our doorstep. Join us as Jaki, who served as a volunteer during the Games takes us on a stroll through the park.
We will meet at the Tottenham Hale station at 11.00 for travel to Stratford, walk from there station then make our way into the park. It is a vibrant, sustainable mixed-use destination with sports and arts venues and is bigger than Hyde Park!

Not long to go, our Summer Daytime Disco is nearly here, and we’d love you to join us! You can expect an afternoon of great music, dancing, laughter and the chance to catch up with friends or meet new people in our warm and welcoming community.
As an added bonus, Gina’s is fully air-conditioned, so you can dance, chat and stay cool whatever the weather. A £7 donation is requested to help cover costs. Register your interest today and come along for what promises to be another fantastic afternoon!

First Summer Evening Stroll
You’ve told us that you’d like to take a safe walk on these summer evenings together in our local parks, and we’ve enlisted the help of the gentlemen of the Hornsey Round Table who will escort us! We’ll stroll across the lower path and members can go whatever distance they feel comfortable with, and be sure they’ll be escorted back to base at the station. As many members know there is a pub (with Toilets) at the start of this route (and another on the far side of the path) if you choose to linger on the day, though that’s optional! We’ll aim to see you in your way by 8pm. On this walk, dogs are welcome!
Tea & Talk at Ally Pally: Victorian Fern Fever
Following a fantastic first session, we’re happy to be returning to Alexandra Palace Garden Centre for the second in this series of talks. If you missed the first one, don’t miss this opportunity to join us!
August’s talk, presented by the ever-knowledgeable Ali, is titled “Victorian Fern Fever”: discover the fascinating story behind the Victorian obsession with ferns, from their popularity in homes and gardens to the wider cultural craze they inspired. Whether you’re a keen gardener or simply curious about local history and nature, this promises to be an engaging and informative afternoon.

- Tai Chi:
Following on from our successful Tai Chi classes in May and June, we are considering a summer open air programme to be held in the square at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre, N15 4RX at 10.30 on Mondays in August. Would you be interested?
- Flower arranging
Some members tell us they’d like to learn more about flower arranging. Should we set up some classes? Tell us what you think!
- Weightlifting
We are exploring the idea of a weightlifting for seniors session, beginning in autumn 2026, and we are putting plans in place for September. If you’d be interested, we’d like to know now though, and we’re eager to hear more about what you want to see from sessions like these. Tell us what you think!
