Join us this Sunday for a lovely walk around Walthamstow Wetlands! The weather is looking promising, with sunny skies expected, making it a perfect opportunity to enjoy the fresh air, beautiful scenery and wildlife. We’ll meet at our usual meeting point, the Engine Room Café, before setting off for a relaxing walk together. We look forward to seeing you all there!
Tai Chi (beginners, intermediate and returners!), EXTENDED!
After a two-week break, Tai Chi is back! With the extended sessions and with Heron returning on Monday 26th, we can get moving again. Join us to stretch, relax and enjoy the many benefits of this gentle, mindful practice. Sessions will take place outdoors when the weather allows or move indoors to a ground-floor studio if the weather dictates.
If you have doubts or interest, read this recent Guardian article highlighting the largest review of its kind into Tai Chi and other traditional exercises. The findings suggest they have huge benefits for both physical and mental health! We continue our crochet, knitting and textile craft get-together! Join us from 2pm onwards and bring along your mending, knitting, crochet or any other textile project you’re working on. We welcome people of all abilities, whether you’re experienced or just getting started. If you would like to join our WhatsApp group, see here: Knitting, Crochet and Textiles Circle WhatsApp Group
We’ll be meeting at the wonderful Sean’s Shack café at Hornsey Town Hall, a hidden Art Deco gem tucked away just beyond the entrance to the hall, and a lovely spot to spend an afternoon crafting together. For reference, the W7 stops outside, with the 91 and 41 stopping nearby, drop by to check it!
Discounted Tickets: Black Liverpool, A Film, Book Launch & Conversation
For Black History Month, we’re happy to promote discounted tickets for just £3 for this special evening, Black Liverpool: Film, Book Launch & Q&A, with Professor Stephen Small. The event offers a fascinating opportunity to explore the rich and distinctive history of Liverpool’s Black community through rare archive film, extracts from Professor Small’s new book, and a Q&A and discussion. Drawing on decades of research and first-hand experience, Professor Small explores the influence of Africa, the Caribbean and the United States on Black life and culture in Liverpool, as well as themes of identity, politics, music, community and social change.
This is a great opportunity to learn more about a unique part of Black British history and hear directly from someone with deep personal and academic connections to Liverpool. To access the discount, register through our form and we’ll send you the discount code you need to book your ticket.
NEW French Conversation Drop In
Fancy brushing up your French while enjoying a coffee and a chat? Starting 27th October at 11am, we’re trying out an informal French-speaking drop-in at Ratatouille. Please note that this is not a French lesson, it’s simply an opportunity to meet other members, practise speaking French, and enjoy some conversation in a relaxed setting.
Whether you’re fluent, a little rusty, or somewhere in between, you’re very welcome! There’s no set format, just come along, enjoy a coffee or cake, and join in the conversation. We’ll see how the first session goes, and if there’s enough interest, we can make it a monthly gathering, or even more regular if members would like it. Come along, say bonjour, and give your French a little workout!
Celebrating Black History Month: a Special Storytelling Evening with Baden
Join us on Tuesday 27th October evening at North London Community House for a special Black History Month storytelling evening with Baden Prince. Come along for an engaging and thought-provoking event celebrating stories, experiences and heritage. And for football fans, there’s an added bonus, you can watch the England match at the venue beforehand! A wonderful opportunity to enjoy an evening of culture, community and conversation. The event is FREE.
Cinema Club: Primetime (2026)
Our first cinema club option is Primetime, a gripping 109-minute film based on the true story behind the notorious US television show To Catch a Predator. Set in 2006, it follows host Chris Hansen as an undercover investigation becomes one of the most controversial television phenomena of the decade. Featuring a compelling performance by Robert Pattinson, the film explores the darker side of television culture and raises questions about media, morality and the pursuit of justice. A fascinating choice for anyone who enjoys thought-provoking films inspired by real events.
Cinema Club: Naza (2026)
Our second cinema club option is NAZA, a powerful and thought-provoking 77-minute documentary filmed at night on the rooftops of Tel Aviv. The film explores the systems behind the devastating impact of Israel’s military campaign on Palestinian civilians in Gaza, offering a stark and moving perspective on the ongoing humanitarian crisis. It’s a challenging but important film that encourages reflection and discussion about the realities of the conflict. The film is in Hebrew and English, with English subtitles where needed.
RETURNING Drama workshops*
Our Drama workshops are again under way at Haringey Circle, and we are well into our second programme! It’s again led by Collage Arts Artistic Director Steve Medlin. Each class explores text-based work alongside devising and creating original work, with a particular focus on helping each participant find their own “voice”. No previous experience is needed, just an open mind and a willingness to play!
We will continue to welcome new participants, although consistency of attendance is required – so if you’re interested in joining the group, please get in touch with us for more details.
Garden Talks (and demonstration!): Christmas Wreath Making*
We’re very excited to kick off our autumn/winter Garden Talks with a festive wreath-making demonstration by the wonderful, engaging and knowledgeable Ali at the centre. Join us for seasonal inspiration, creative ideas and a chance to get into the Christmas spirit with fellow members. Registrations are now open, and spaces are limited, so be sure to book your place early! Enjoy complimentary tea and coffee as we prepare for the festive season.
Another chance at Trent Park House, History Behind the Doors!*
Following the huge success of our first visit, which sold out, we’re happy to offer Circle members another opportunity to explore this fascinating historic house and its recently opened exhibition. Don’t miss this! Registrations are now open, with priority given to members who were previously on the waiting list. Any remaining places will then be offered to other members.
Our members thoroughly enjoyed the October visit, discovering Trent Park House’s remarkable history, including its role during the Second World War, when senior Nazi military officers were held there and their conversations secretly monitored and recorded. At just £7 per person, half the usual ticket price of £14, this is a wonderful opportunity to discover the history behind the doors. We encourage interested members to register their interest!
Dining Circle: a French late lunch at Ratatouille!*
If you enjoyed our previous restaurant outings, you won’t want to miss this one! Join us for another delicious Dining Circle experience at Ratatouille, where we’ll enjoy a fabulous three-course French meal, excellent service and a lovely atmosphere, all in the company of fellow members for £16. Great cuisine, lively conversation and a relaxed afternoon together.
