The weather forecast for Sunday suggests a mostly cloudy day with some mist and light winds. While we may not have sunshine, the overcast skies should provide a lovely autumnal atmosphere for our walk! So, wrap up warm, bring a waterproof jacket just in case, and join us for a relaxing Sunday walk! We’ll catch the 11.38 train for the short journey to Winchmore Hill – so don’t be late!
Tai Chi (beginners, intermediate and returners!), EXTENDED!
After a two-week break, Tai Chi is back! Join us to stretch, relax and enjoy the many benefits of this gentle, mindful practice. Sessions will take place outdoors when the weather allows or move indoors to a ground-floor studio if the weather dictates. Please make sure that you arrive on time!
If you have doubts or interest, read this recent Guardian article highlighting the largest review of its kind into Tai Chi and other traditional exercises. The findings suggest they have huge benefits for both physical and mental health! Free Heartburn Health Check Available Through Local Pharmacies
Heartburn, acid reflux and indigestion are common, but experiencing these symptoms regularly over a long period can increase your risk of developing Barrett’s oesophagus, which can sometimes lead to oesophageal cancer. This cancer causes around 7,900 deaths in the UK each year.
The NHS is running a local project offering free Heartburn Health Checks through more than 20 pharmacies. If you’re aged 45–84, regularly experience these symptoms and are registered with a GP in Barnet, Haringey or Islington, you may be eligible. Following a discussion with a pharmacist, you may be referred for a simple capsule sponge test at Finchley Memorial Hospital Community Diagnostic Centre to help detect changes in the oesophagus early.
Find your nearest participating pharmacy: www.endosign.com/patient/pharmacy. If you’re concerned about your symptoms, speak to your GP.
