Dear Members,
As the weather changes and autumn settles in, we encourage you to stay active, get out and about when you can, and enjoy some of the many indoor activities we have on offer too. From walks and creative activities to cinema, theatre, dining and fascinating local history, there’s lots coming up in October and early November.
We’re also happy to announce a new partnership with Angies Beauty Clinic, offering Circle Members exclusive discounts on manicure and pedicure treatments. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some well-deserved pampering while supporting a local business.
A quick note about registering: please only register for activities you genuinely intend to attend, as places can be limited. If you can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your place to someone else. Please also bear with us, as registrations can take some time to process and a submitted form does not mean your place is immediately confirmed. We will contact you once your registration has been processed and your place confirmed.
Take a look through the dates below and see what catches your interest and we hope to see you at one of our activities soon!

Sunday Wellness & Nature Walk: Woodberry Down
Join us this weekend for a relaxed and hopefully dry stroll around the lakes at Woodberry Down! After our previous walk was unexpectedly cancelled due to the rain, we’re looking forward to getting out together, enjoying some fresh air, gentle exercise and good company. We’ll take things at a comfortable pace, with plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings and have a chat along the way. It’s a lovely opportunity to unwind, get some fresh air and enjoy a leisurely walk together, fingers crossed for sunshine this time!
Weekday Walk: (Not Tai Chi) Monday, Downhills Stroll
Join us for a shorter weekday walk, as a substitute for our usual Monday Tai Chi (which will be back on the 26th!), we’ll be swapping the gentle movements for a relaxed stroll instead! We’ll take a gentle route through the local area, with the possibility of heading towards Downhills Park and the surrounding green spaces, depending on the group and conditions. The walk will be shorter than usual and at a comfortable pace, with plenty of opportunity to enjoy some fresh air, have a chat and spend a little time outdoors together.
NEW Knitting and Crochet Circle!
We continue our crochet, knitting and textile craft get-together! Join us from 2pm onwards and bring along your mending, knitting, crochet or any other textile project you’re working on. We welcome people of all abilities, whether you’re experienced or just getting started. If you would like to join our WhatsApp group, see here: Knitting, Crochet and Textiles Circle WhatsApp Group
We’ll be meeting at the wonderful Sean’s Shack café at Hornsey Town Hall, a hidden Art Deco gem tucked away just beyond the entrance to the hall, and a lovely spot to spend an afternoon crafting together. For reference, the W7 stops outside, with the 91 and 41 stopping nearby, drop by to check it!
RETURNING Batik Sessions (3/4 weeks)*
We are bringing back our popular Batik sessions for another four-week course! Batik is a beautiful traditional textile art using wax and dyes to create colourful patterns and designs on fabric, a wonderfully creative process to explore, whether or not you consider yourself artistic. This time, priority will be given to members who haven’t had the chance to take part before, but everyone is very welcome to register their interest. Depending on demand, we may even be able to offer additional sessions.
Please note that registration is for all four weeks, so do make sure you can attend the full course before booking your place. Come along, learn the techniques and enjoy creating your own unique textile pieces!
RETURNING Drama workshops*
Our Drama workshops are now underway at Haringey Circle, and after a great first week we’re looking forward to the second session! They’re again led by Collage Arts Artistic Director Steve Medlin. Each class explores text-based work alongside devising and creating original work, with a particular focus on helping each participant find their own “voice”. No previous experience is needed, just an open mind and a willingness to play!
We will continue to welcome new participants, although consistency of attendance is required – so if you’re interested in joining the group, please get in touch with us for more details.
Cinema Club: Extra Geography (2026)
Next week, we’re heading back to the classroom for Extra Geography, Molly Manners’ charming coming-of-age story about friendship, first love, and the wonderfully messy experience of growing up. Set in an English girls’ boarding school, the film follows two best friends as they navigate boys, studies, friendship and the challenges of finding their place in the world. Funny, heartfelt and full of youthful energy, Extra Geography is a celebration of girlhood, growing up and the friendships that stay with us along the way.
Please note that all Cinema Club members are required to present their Cinema Club card on arrival. If you have not yet received your card or wish to join the Cinema Club officially, please contact us or talk to a volunteer on site so we can arrange this for you. Cards are not transferable.
Trent Park House: History Behind the Doors*
We’re glad to confirm our visit to Trent Park House on 13th October at 11am. Join us to see this recently opened first class exhibition. You’ll learn about this historic house, its story, character and connections to the past, and particular its use to imprison top Nazi Military Officers during World War 2, and how it was wired to spy on their conversations! Circle members can join us for just £7, half the usual £14 ticket price. All places have now been taken, but we now have another visit on 10th November – see below.
Discounted Hip Hop Theatre: Jade and the Beanstalk
We are happy to offer 10% discounted access to Jade and the Beanstalk, a vibrant new professional children’s hip-hop and dance theatre production from Streetz Ahead at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre in London. The production follows Jade, whose imagination is her superpower as she navigates neurodivergence and the loss of her mother. Combining hip-hop theatre, storytelling and humour, the production explores grief, loss and hope in an engaging and accessible way for children and young people. To receive the 10% discount, simply register your interest through our form and the discount details will be sent to you to continue with the ticket purchase.
Dining Circle: Late Lunch at Sumak Restaurant!*
Join us for our next Dining Circle as we head to Sumak Restaurant for a late lunch at Sumak. This restaurant specialises in authentic Turkish cuisine, with a varied menu of traditional dishes prepared using quality ingredients and classic recipes. For £15.95, you’ll get a starter, main course and a glass of wine or soft drink, making it a great-value opportunity to try some Turkish favourites and enjoy lunch together.
Note: Please sign up to join us in good time, before Mon 12th. Only sign up if you are really coming on the day, and let us know if you have to cancel for unforeseen reasons. Unexpected arrivals by members who haven’t signed up are discouraged and can cause embarrassment.
Olympic Park Guided Tour with Jaki!
If you missed our Olympic Park Tour earlier in the year, here’s another chance to come along and explore this fascinating part of London! Built in Stratford for the 2012 Olympic Games, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is now a huge mixed-use destination filled with striking architecture, sports and arts venues, green spaces and reminders of its Olympic legacy – and it’s even bigger than Hyde Park. Jaki, who volunteered during the Games, will lead us on a stroll through the park, sharing first-hand memories, interesting facts and insights along the way. We’ll meet at Tottenham Hale Station at 11am for the quick hop to Stratford before setting off on the tour, a great opportunity to discover more about a remarkable site right on our doorstep. It’s about an hour’s walk.
Discounted Tickets: Black Liverpool, A Film, Book Launch & Conversation
For Black History Month, we’re happy to promote discounted tickets for just £3 for this special evening, Black Liverpool: Film, Book Launch & Q&A, with Professor Stephen Small. The event offers a fascinating opportunity to explore the rich and distinctive history of Liverpool’s Black community through rare archive film, extracts from Professor Small’s new book, and a Q&A and discussion. Drawing on decades of research and first-hand experience, Professor Small explores the influence of Africa, the Caribbean and the United States on Black life and culture in Liverpool, as well as themes of identity, politics, music, community and social change.
This is a great opportunity to learn more about a unique part of Black British history and hear directly from someone with deep personal and academic connections to Liverpool. To access the discount, register through our form and we’ll send you the discount code you need to book your ticket.
NEW French Conversation Drop In
Fancy brushing up your French while enjoying a coffee and a chat? Starting 27th October at 11am, we’re trying out an informal French-speaking drop-in at Ratatouille. Please note that this is not a French lesson, it’s simply an opportunity to meet other members, practise speaking French, and enjoy some conversation in a relaxed setting.
Whether you’re fluent, a little rusty, or somewhere in between, you’re very welcome! There’s no set format, just come along, enjoy a coffee or cake, and join in the conversation. We’ll see how the first session goes, and if there’s enough interest, we can make it a monthly gathering, or even more regular if members would like it. Come along, say bonjour, and give your French a little workout!
Another chance at Trent Park House, History Behind the Doors!*
Our original visit on 13th October sold out, but we’re delighted to have negotiated an additional visit for Circle members. Members currently on the waiting list will be given priority, with any remaining places then made available to other members. This is a fantastic opportunity to see the recently opened exhibition at this historic house and discover its fascinating story, including its remarkable role during the Second World War when it was used to hold senior Nazi military officers, while their conversations were secretly monitored and recorded. Circle members can enjoy the visit for just £7, half the usual £14 ticket price, a great opportunity!
