Sunday Nature & Wellness: Grovelands Park
This weekend, join us on Sunday for a stroll around Grovelands Park. We’ve chosen this route because its shady, tree-lined paths make it ideal for warmer weather, and it’s easy to reach despite the current Tube closures. Suitable for all abilities, it’s a relaxed stroll around the park’s beautiful lake with plenty of fresh air, good company, and, of course, our usual café stop afterwards.
Tai Chi (beginners, intermediate and returners!)
We’re pleased to launch an additional 4-week Tai Chi course with Heron, suitable for beginners, intermediate participants and returners from the last sessions. Please note that, as this is a progressive course, members are asked to commit to all four weeks to get the most from the sessions.
Tai Chi helps improve balance, flexibility, strength and wellbeing, while reducing stress and promoting relaxation. After class, why not stay for a coffee or refreshment at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre café/bar?
Gina’s Morning drop-in!
Start your day with our growing Morning Coffee & Drop-In. Come along for a cool drink in our air-conditioned surroundings, enjoy a friendly game of dominoes, have a chat with friends old and new, and stay for lunch if you wish. Everyone is welcome, so why not drop in and see what it’s all about? we’d love to see you there!
Tea & Talk at Ally Pally: Victorian Fern Fever
Following a fantastic first session, we’re happy to be returning to Alexandra Palace Garden Centre for the second in this series of talks. If you missed the first one, don’t miss this opportunity to join us!
August’s talk, presented by the ever-knowledgeable Ali, is titled “Victorian Fern Fever”: discover the fascinating story behind the Victorian obsession with ferns, from their popularity in homes and gardens to the wider cultural craze they inspired. Whether you’re a keen gardener or simply curious about local history and nature, this promises to be an engaging and informative afternoon. Plus, there’ll be complimentary tea and coffee and discounts on plants. Our visit last month was so successful that they wrote an article about it in their newsletter! Our thanks to Capital Gardens for their hospitality: https://www.capitalgardens.co.uk/blog/category/popular-posts/
Please note that for this event registration and confirmation from Haringey Circle are mandatory, you can register here: Houseplant Care and Tea at the Alexandra Palace Garden Centre: Victorian Fern Fever – Fill in form
Second Summer Evening Stroll
Following the success of our last walk, we are heading out again! Join us for another relaxed summer evening stroll through our local wonderful park, walking at a comfortable pace along the lower path for as far as feels right, with the chance to catch the sunset if we’re lucky. There are pubs (with toilets) at both ends of the route if you’d like to stay on for a drink afterwards, but that’s entirely optional, and we’ll aim to have everyone on their way home by 8pm.
Best of all, dogs are welcome this time too, so feel free to bring your four-legged friend along!
Cinema Club: Ish (2025)
Join us for next week’s Cinema screening of Ish for just £4. Set and filmed in Luton, this powerful British coming-of-age drama follows best friends Ish and Maram as they navigate the challenges of growing up after a traumatic police stop-and-search changes their friendship forever. A moving story about friendship, identity and growing up, Ish has been praised by Little White Lies for its “magnificent central performances.”
Dining Circle: Ratatouille, Modern French Cuisine.
Our popular Dining Circle is back! Join us for a relaxed three-course lunch at Ratatouille, a modern French restaurant in Muswell Hill. Whether you’re discovering French cuisine for the first time or revisiting familiar favourites, this is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy delicious food, friendly conversation and great company. The three-course lunch is just £15.
Please register as soon as you can as we will circulate the menu so we can confirm everyone’s order with the restaurant by Monday 10th. We look forward to sharing another enjoyable afternoon together!
Cheshunt / Wildlife Centre Walk, a discovery!
Back by popular demand, join member Jaki for another Wildlife Discovery Walk through the beautiful Lea Valley Country Park. This time, we’ll be taking a longer route at a slightly brisker pace, giving us the chance to explore even more of the park’s stunning lakes, nature reserves and hidden corners. We’ll meet at the Weaver Line entrance of Seven Sisters station to catch the 11:31 train to Cheshunt before setting off, so come a little earlier. The walk will last approximately two hours before returning by train. If you enjoy fresh air, nature, good company and discovering new parts of the Lee Valley, we’d love you to join us.
Please note: a packed lunch is recommended, with picnic tables and toilet facilities available during the outing.
August Bank Holiday Lunch
As tradition goes, we’re heading back to The Mossy Well this next Bank Holiday!
