Dear members,
Coming up this September, we have everything from our walks (with some added excitement) and Cinema Club to Tai Chi, our new Knitting & Crochet Circle and the return of our popular Drama and Batik workshops. We’ll also be rounding off the summer in style with our Daytime Disco, as well as heading to V&A East for a very special exhibition.

DAH Inclusion Fest!
Visit Disability Action Haringey as they host their first-ever Inclusion Festival! The free event is a chance for Haringey’s D/deaf and disabled community to come together, make connections and celebrate the diversity of the community, with music, arts and crafts, food, information stalls and more. BSL interpreters will be present, and everyone is welcome.
Sunday Wellness & Nature Walk: Walthamstow Wetlands & Markfield Road Festival
We’re making the most of the end of the summer, with another of our popular weekend walks, following a similar format to last week! Join us at Walthamstow Wetlands for a relaxed walk together before heading towards Markfield Park, where there’s plenty going on as part of the weekend’s festival activities, including live music, food and drink.
You can also join us along the way too at Springfield House Cafe E5 9EF 12-12.30, or in Markfield Park E5 9EF 2pm onwards.
There’s also the chance to see the impressive Markfield Beam Engine in steam, but note participation in any of the activities is optional. Come along, enjoy some fresh air and good company, and make the most of a late-summer weekend with the Circle.
Tai Chi (beginners, intermediate and returners!), EXTENDED!
There aren’t many sessions left to go, so don’t miss your chance to come along and give Tai Chi a try! We ask all members to register and select the dates they plan to attend to make sure we are prepared.

NEW Knitting and Crochet Circle!
After a wonderful first session, we’re delighted to continue our new knitting and textile craft get-together! Join our member Pam from 2pm onwards and bring along your mending, knitting, crochet or any other textile project you’re working on.
We’ll be meeting at the wonderful Sean’s Shack café at Hornsey Town Hall, a hidden Art Deco gem tucked away just beyond the entrance to the hall, and a lovely spot to spend an afternoon crafting together. For reference, the W7 stops outside, with the 91 and 41 stopping nearby.
Cinema Club: Late Fame (2025)
Our next Cinema Club offering is Late Fame, starring the wonderful Willem Dafoe and Greta Lee. This thoughtful and witty film follows a forgotten New York poet who unexpectedly finds himself rediscovered by a younger generation. With a terrific cast and a sharp, entertaining script, Late Fame explores creativity, recognition and the unexpected turns life can take. Another great opportunity to enjoy something a little different on the big screen with fellow Circle members!
Please note: you are asked not to bring food and drinks to the venue. Arthouse loves our Circle members, but the venue is also a café and bar!
Summer Evening Stroll, Ally Pally River Path
Make the most of the lighter evenings and join us for a short, gentle stroll along the Ally Pally River Path. Nothing too strenuous, just a chance to get out, stretch your legs, enjoy some fresh air and catch up with fellow Circle members.
Vegan Lunch Club! *
Fancy trying something new? Come along to our Monthly Vegan Lunch Club, open to everyone – whether you’re already vegan, curious about vegan food or simply fancy trying something different. For just £5, enjoy a generous and varied lunch with three freshly prepared dishes, with favourites ranging from curries and pies to pasta, ramen, stews and more, alongside fresh salads.
If you’re joining us for Drama later in the day, why not make an afternoon of it and enjoy lunch together beforehand? We need to confirm numbers for catering this week, so please make sure you register and save your spot for lunch, we will be sending the confirmations soon!
RETURNING Drama workshops*
Our Drama workshops resume this month Haringey Circle, and we are privileged that they will again be led by Collage Arts Artistic director Steve Medlin. Each class will look at text based work and some devising/creating original work, but more importantly will explore how each participant finds their own “voice”.
No experience needed except for an open mind and a willingness to play! Steve Medlin has a career as a performer and director across stage and screen and is a regular drama tutor at some of the UK’s leading drama schools.
Members are asked to commit for the 10 week course, and places will be limited, so register as soon as you can!
End of Summer Daytime Disco! *
You loved it last time, so we’re bringing back the daytime disco! As summer draws to a close, what better way to say goodbye than with good music, great company and a chance to get up and dance? Come along for another fun-filled afternoon of dancing, laughter and plenty of good vibes, because the end of summer deserves a proper celebration!
RETURNING Batik Sessions (4 weeks)*
We are bringing back our popular Batik sessions for another four-week course! Batik is a beautiful traditional textile art using wax and dyes to create colourful patterns and designs on fabric, a wonderfully creative process to explore, whether or not you consider yourself artistic. This time, priority will be given to members who haven’t had the chance to take part before, but everyone is very welcome to register their interest. Depending on demand, we may even be able to offer additional sessions.
Please note that registration is for all four weeks, so do make sure you can attend the full course before booking your place. Come along, learn the techniques and enjoy creating your own unique textile pieces!
V&A East Museum Visit, “The Music is Black: A British Story” Exhibition*
We’re proud to offer members free tickets to The Music is Black: A British Story at V&A East! This exciting exhibition celebrates 125 years of Black British music, bringing together music, photographs, fashion and fascinating objects, including items connected to some of Britain’s most influential artists.
Tickets are very limited, but please register your interest even if places appear full. We’ll use the list as our priority waiting list and will endeavour to secure more tickets if we can.

We always encourage members to attend our Wednesday Line Dancing classes as Carol is a fantastic instructor, and everyone is made to feel welcome! It’s a fun way to stay active, improve coordination and enjoy the many physical and mental health benefits of dancing.

Would you like to visit to historic Trent Park House? Once a grand country estate, the house has a fascinating history and played a remarkable role during the Second World War. We’ve arranged discounted tickets at £7 for an October group visit. Tell us if you’d like to join in.
