We’ve got another busy couple of weeks ahead at Haringey Circle with plenty of opportunities to get out, try something different and spend time together, we look forward to it!
The big highlight next week is our End of Summer Daytime Disco! After such a great time at our last one, we’re doing it all again next Friday, 25th September. We’ll be confirming tickets this weekend, so make sure you register if you’d like to join us for an afternoon of music, dancing and good company!
And do us know if you’d like to come along to the V&A’s Music is Black Exhibition at the end of the month – we’re wait listing for this and a possible second visit now!

Sunday Wellness & Nature Walk: Grovelands Circuit
This weekend, join us on Sunday for a stroll around Grovelands Park. With the recent change in weather, it’s looking a little cooler than we’ve been used to, although temperatures are still expected to reach around 21°C. The park’s tree-lined paths make for a lovely, comfortable walk whatever the weather.
Suitable for all abilities, it’s a relaxed stroll around the park’s beautiful lake with plenty of fresh air, good company and, of course, our usual café stop afterwards.
Tai Chi (beginners, intermediate and returners!), EXTENDED!
There aren’t many sessions left to go, so don’t miss your chance to come along and give Tai Chi a try! We ask all members to register and select the dates they plan to attend to make sure we are prepared.

NEW Knitting and Crochet Circle!
We continue our new knitting and textile craft get-together! Join our member Pam from 2pm onwards and bring along your mending, knitting, crochet or any other textile project you’re working on. We welcome people of all abilities, whether you’re experienced or just getting started. We’ll have an in-house knitting helper on hand, as well as someone who can help with crochet, so there’ll be plenty of friendly support if you need it.
We’ll be meeting at the wonderful Sean’s Shack café at Hornsey Town Hall, a hidden Art Deco gem tucked away just beyond the entrance to the hall, and a lovely spot to spend an afternoon crafting together. For reference, the W7 stops outside, with the 91 and 41 stopping nearby, drop by to check it!
Cinema Club: The Cycle of Love (2025)
For our next Cinema Club, we’ll be watching The Cycle of Love, an inspiring and heart-warming true-life story spanning continents and cultures. At its heart is an extraordinary journey driven by love, destiny and self-belief, exploring what can happen when we have the courage to take a leap of faith and follow our hearts.
The film has received a wonderfully warm response from critics, praised for its tenderness, optimism and uplifting spirit. Robert Daniels of RogerEbert.com calls it “delicate and heartwarming”, while Time Out awarded it four stars. A touching, feel-good film, and one we’re looking forward to enjoying together.
RETURNING Drama workshops*
Our Drama workshops are now underway at Haringey Circle, and after a great first week we’re looking forward to the second session! We’re delighted to once again have the workshops led by Collage Arts Artistic Director Steve Medlin.
Each class explores text-based work alongside devising and creating original work, with a particular focus on helping each participant find their own “voice”. No previous experience is needed, just an open mind and a willingness to play!
We will continue to welcome new participants, although consistency of attendance is required – so if you’re interested in joining the group, please get in touch with us for more details.
End of Summer Daytime Disco! *
You loved our last daytime disco, so what better way to say goodbye to this wonderful summer than by doing it all over again? Join us for another fun-filled afternoon of great music, dancing, laughter and plenty of good vibes. Whether you’re ready to hit the dance floor or simply want to come along, enjoy the music and soak up the atmosphere, everyone is welcome. It’s a chance to get together, have some fun (and maybe a wonderful plate of food from Gina’s) and give a fantastic summer the send-off it deserves.
We’ll be confirming tickets this weekend, so don’t miss out, register now to get your name on the list! Dust off those dancing shoes and join us for one more summer celebration!
RETURNING Batik Sessions (4 weeks)*
We are bringing back our popular Batik sessions for another four-week course! Batik is a beautiful traditional textile art using wax and dyes to create colourful patterns and designs on fabric, a wonderfully creative process to explore, whether or not you consider yourself artistic. This time, priority will be given to members who haven’t had the chance to take part before, but everyone is very welcome to register their interest. Depending on demand, we may even be able to offer additional sessions.
Please note that registration is for all four weeks, so do make sure you can attend the full course before booking your place. Come along, learn the techniques and enjoy creating your own unique textile pieces!
V&A East Museum Visit, “The Music is Black: A British Story” Exhibition*
We’re proud to offer members free tickets (usually £22.50) to The Music is Black: A British Story at V&A East! This exciting exhibition celebrates 125 years of Black British music, bringing together music, photographs, fashion and fascinating objects, including items connected to some of Britain’s most influential artists.
Tickets are very limited, but please register your interest even if places appear full. We’ll use the list as our priority waiting list and will endeavour to secure more tickets if we can.
Garden Talk: Are Herbs More Than A Garnish?
Next month, we’ll be heading back to meet Ali for another of our popular Garden Talks. This time, we’ll be asking: Are Herbs More Than a Garnish? Ever tried growing them and failed? Or are there new ones to try perhaps?
From the familiar to the perhaps more surprising, Ali will take us on another fascinating exploration of the garden and the many ways herbs have been grown, valued and used. Whether you’re a keen gardener or simply curious to learn something new, come along and join the conversation. Registrations to open soon!

We always encourage members to attend our Wednesday Line Dancing classes as Carol is a fantastic instructor, and everyone is made to feel welcome! It’s a fun way to stay active, improve coordination and enjoy the many physical and mental health benefits of dancing.

- French Conversation Cafe
Interested in brushing up your French? Want to meet up with others who can help, over drink or coffee? We’re actively trying to arrange this! If you need it – let us know soon!
- Choir Sessions
Would you like to join a friendly community choir? We’re exploring free weekly choir sessions led by professional singer and experienced choir leader Djanan Turan. Sessions would take place on Saturdays from 10:00–11:30am, likely in the Wood Green area, and would feature pop, jazz, swing and well-known songs from around the world. All sessions would be free of charge.
