A Picnic in the Path of the Eclipse!
About This Event
Join us on Wednesday 12th for our inaugural picnic at Alexandra Palace! Just to make it EXTRA SPECIAL we have arranged for a SOLAR ECLIPSE to enthral and entertain our members.
We’ll begin the picnic from 5.30 onwards until about 7pm or so, in the field beside the Go Ape rope walk (which is behind the lake cafe), and has offered us picnic tables. Bring your own food and refreshments.
By bus you can access Ally Pally by the W3, from Wood Green, alight in front of the Palace and walk back to the lake, alternatively from Muswell Hill/Crouch End take the W3 and alight at the Rose Garden stop just after the Palace. To access the field, walk towards the boating lake – don’t enter – and walk past slightly downhill and in 50 metres the field entrance is on the left. There are picnic tables available. (Alernatively the 184 stops at the Palace Gates Rd side entrance to the Park, where the slightly uphill path takes you directly to Go Ape & the field. Paid parking at the east side of the Palace near theatre)
The eclipse will take place from 6-7.30 PM and it will be a near total experience with 91% of the sun obscured. Obviously we want everyone to be safe, so no looking directly at the sun even in sunglasses unless they are specially designed for eclipse viewing. The eclipse can be viewed by looking at the reflection on a card or paper. Colanders are especially good for this apparently?! Yes, really.
