Understanding Loneliness Among Older & Disabled Adults in Haringey

Our latest report confirms that loneliness among older adults and people with disabilities is widespread. However, the evidence also reveals something vital: meaningful connection can transform lives.

Members report moving from days spent entirely alone to participating in walks, classes, and community gatherings. They describe finding new friends, a renewed sense of belonging, and in some cases, a new family.

Public health evidence indicates that the impact of loneliness on health is comparable to smoking 20 cigarettes per day. Yet community offers a powerful alternative, healing!

Loneliness can shrink a life, whereas community expands it again and at Haringey Circle we aim to grow this work and sustain it for the long term.
